Derabassi<\/strong> or Dera Bassi<\/strong> is a great place to travel to and stay in, especially if you plan on visiting Chandigarh<\/strong>. About Derabassi <\/strong><\/h2>\n

Located at the edge of Punjab, Derabassi is known for its industrial belts that are located along two prominent roads: Ramgarh Road and Barwala Road<\/strong>. There are a number of important institutions and factories there that employ a large number of people and produce industrial products that are used in many different industries. As a result,, there are some good educational institutes here including engineering colleges.<\/p>\n

Historically, this area is famous a resting place of the Pandavas<\/strong>, who are said to have stayed here. The market is located in a village called Larlu that is only a short drive from Derabassi.<\/p>\n

Sukhana Lake:<\/strong>\u00a0This is an artificial lake located in Sector 1 of Chandigarh. The lake is over 3 Kms long and provides a welcome relief that adds character to the city. The lake was created in 1958 and is a central place where many festivals and functions take place. Parrot Sanctuary:<\/strong>\u00a0This is a beautiful 3 hectares of land in Sector 21, Chandigarh that has been protected by the government as it is a natural habitat for the Indian parrot and has a sizable population of the species. The park also has some beautiful benches for people to sit in that are sometimes called \u201cTaj Mahal Benches\u201d because of their design. The sanctuary is located in the heart of the city but takes all precautions to ensure that the birds are not disturbed.<\/p>\n

Leisure Valley:<\/strong>\u00a0This is a narrow and beautiful strip of land that forms a belt of greenery alongside the city of Chandigarh. It starts in Sector 1 and continues for 8 kms, containing within itself several parks, children\u2019s playgrounds, flower beds and activity centers for outdoor sports.
